Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including "Tomorrow."
Audition Details:
Please sign up for an audition day so we can plan ahead. Children auditioning will be released after vocal auditions. Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled audition time in order to check in and fill out any paperwork.Please prepare about 45-60 seconds of a song in the style of Annie. Songs from the show are allowed. Auditioners should either bring a backing track or be prepared to sing a capella. A speaker will be provided.
Cast may include up to 30-35 children, teens, and adults, 5 years old and older.
Please note: Sandy in our production will be a puppet operated by a puppeteer. This performer will be in the ensemble when Sandy is not on stage.
All roles are open. Although these characters are written in the gender binary, we encourage you to audition for any role that you feel most comfortable portraying. Characters will be presented as written. Barre Players welcomes and encourages auditioners of all ages, races, ethnicities, gender identities and sexual orientation, body types, and physical abilities for our productions.
Important Dates:
Rehearsals will be Sundays 2-5PM, Tuesdays/Thursdays 6:30-9:30PM. Orphans/Children will be dismissed at 8:30 during weeknight rehearsals until November. The actor playing Annie will be needed the entire rehearsal slot for most rehearsals.
First Rehearsal: September 20, 2026 2-4PM
There will be no rehearsals on 10/11, 10/13, and 10/15. Rehearsal on Sunday 10/18 will be from 6:30-9:30PM. Rehearsal on Sunday 10/25 will be from 7-9PM
Tech Week starts Sunday November 29th with a rehearsal from 12PM to 9PM, with an hour dinner break. Rehearsal is mandatory for all tech rehearsals. Rehearsals during tech week will likely go until 10PM. Wednesday December 2nd will be "dark" for actors.
Performances:
Fridays, December 4 & 11 as well as Saturdays, December 5 & 12 at 7:30pm
Sundays, December 6 & 13 at 2pm
